What is the purpose of the Adult High School?
Seminole
Community College offers
a year-round high school program providing students with an opportunity to earn
a high school diploma in a nontraditional setting. The Adult High School
provides a personalized education that stresses the competencies students need
to achieve future educational and employment goals beyond graduation. What does the Adult High School Cost?
The Adult
High School tuition is
free to qualified students. Students are required to purchase textbooks. What are the Adult High School admission requirements?
Applicants must be sixteen (16) years of age or older,
withdrawn from their current high school, and able to provide an official
sealed transcript of all high school credits attempted. Students who apply for
admission into the Adult
High School and have not
passed both sections of the FCAT are required to take the Test of Adult Basic
Education (TABE). Students scoring between a 6.0 and 9.0 grade level on the
TABE will be enrolled in elective credit courses that specifically address the
needed competencies. What type of diploma does the Adult High School award?
The Adult
High School diploma is a
standard high school diploma. All Adult
High School graduates meet the State
of Florida
high school graduation requirements (HSCT or FCAT, and 24 credits). What academic calendar does the Adult High School follow?
The Adult High School follows the College academic calendar with three (3) terms per year.
What is the attendance policy?
Students who are absent more than
10 percent of scheduled class time during any one-half term may be
dropped from that course.
How many classes do students take each term?
With advisement from
counselors/academic advisors, students select their own classes – as
few as one or as many as five at a time. Students may also elect to
attend day and/or evening classes. It is possible for students to earn
as many as fifteen (15) credits per year (three terms).
