Biology

Poised to meet the scientific challenges of the 21st century, SCC biological sciences faculty keep a close watch on new developments in the field.

In fact, SCC was the first community college in Florida to offer courses in the new field of biotechnology. Our students receive excellent training in two of the fastest growing occupations, health technology and environmental technology.

Hands-on research opportunities abound in all biological and physical sciences courses. SCC's new biology labs, located in the College's state-of-the-art science laboratory building, utilize the latest technology in computers and interfacing.

Faculty members are well qualified, innovative, dedicated and concerned about the success of their students. The faculty maintains high academic standards and uses the latest technology in their instruction so students are better prepared to be successful throughout their formal education. Additionally, our small classes encourage constant interaction between instructors and students.

SCC science graduates are so well prepared they frequently tutor students when they transfer to four-year colleges and universities. For high achievers in the fast lane, the coursework leading to the Science Merit Diploma offers unique challenges in research.

As an SCC science student, you will have an abundance of modern technology and professional expertise. Whether you already know your goal, or just want to explore, the biological sciences program at SCC offers an active, challenging and personalized course of study.
