Parents' Academy

A key factor in a child's education is parental involvement. To maintain this commitment from parents, SCC invites them to participate in the Parents' Academy, a program that consists of quarterly meeting sessions with parents and the program coordinator, creating a level of involvement for parents. This regular interaction provides a forum for support and partnership, which ensures students' success.

Mission

Our mission is to empower parents personally and provide support while advocating student success and increasing knowledge of post-secondary opportunities.

Quarterly Meetings

The meetings include a forum for parents to network and share resources; newsletters with valuable parenting information; and workshops that feature guest speakers from the community. Meetings take place on SCC's Sanford/Lake Mary Campus (Building J, Room 100) from 10 a.m. to noon, with lunch from noon-12:30 p.m.

Parent Participation

Parents have the opportunity to not only to participate in quarterly meetings but also in events by volunteering their time and energy.
