Seminole Community College's Emergency Medical Services Programs are considered one of the more progressive programs available in Florida. We offer advanced training in prehospital emergency medicine. In this exciting career track, students will be prepared for State Board licensure as emergency medical technicians and paramedics.

The program teaches theory, clinical applications and provides hands-on field internships to assure that students gain the skills necessary to offer the most advanced emergency life support services available.

The first level of EMS care is the Emergency Medical Technician -Basic (EMT -B). This individual is trained in basic emergency medical procedures and is certified by the State of Florida. State of Florida Certification for EMT is a prerequisite to the paramedic course.

The second level of EMS is the Paramedic. The paramedic may perform Advanced Life Support (ALS) procedures. ALS is defined as treatment of life threatening emergencies through the use of specific techniques identified by the U.S. Department of Transportation. These procedures must be performed under the supervision of a licensed physician.
