AwardsThe Art & Phyllis Grindle Honors Institute has many outstanding students. Here are some of our honors students who have received awards for their academic abilities and community involvement:
 | Sarah Holland
Sarah Holland, a recent Seminole Community College graduate, has become the third-consecutive SCC student to win a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship, the largest scholarship offered to community college students in the United States. Holland, 25, of Lake Mary, competed against 700 applicants to become one of only five Florida students to win the award in 2008. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 to students attending community colleges who plan to transfer to four-year institutions. | Sarah Holland and Jennifer Wolff
Sarah Holland and Jennifer Wolff were named to the All-Florida Academic Team in 2008. Nominees had to exhibit academic excellence and rigor, leadership and service. Sarah was one of twenty students in Florida named to the First Team and Jennifer was named to the Second Team. Both were eligible for generous scholarships at their transfer institutions. |  | Lalita Booth
Lalita Booth was awarded the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship as an SCC Honors student in 2006. Through this scholarship, she receives $30,000 per year to complete her B.A. degree and $50,000 per year to complete graduate work. In 2007, Lalita Booth was selected for the Florida Association of Community College's Leroy Collins Distinguished Alumni in the "Against the Odds" category. In 2008, Lalita was one of 65 students nationwide who won the prestigious Truman Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes students planning to attend graduate school for careers in government or public service. Lalita is currently attending University of Central Florida |  |  | Isa Adney
Isa Adney was awarded the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship as an SCC Honors student in 2007. She receives $30,000 per year to complete her B.A. degree and $50,000 per year to complete graduate work. Isa is currently attending Stetson University. | Justin Bagley
At the 2007 PTK International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, Justin Bagley received the Distinguished Chapter Officer Award for his role as PTK Service Officer. Justin is currently attending University of Central Florida. |  | | The SCC Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, Pi Lambda Chapter, was recognized for achieving Five Star status in 2007, the highest level attainable. | |
