SCC's legal studies program is a 64 credit hour Associate of Science degree program, approved by the American Bar Association (ABA), which will prepare you to become a valuable member of a legal team, working for attorneys and judges in all areas of the law and playing an essential role in law firms, courts, financial institutions, corporations, governmental offices, real estate businesses, administrative agencies and state and court institutions. As a paralegal/legal assistant, you will work closely with and under the supervision of an attorney, and perform a variety of duties including interviewing clients and witnesses; conducting legal research; drafting documents; preparing trial notebooks and exhibits; and assisting at trials and hearings.

Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law.
