Please note that the following is only a suggested course sequence. Certain classes are only offered once or twice a year and some of these classes carry prerequisites, therefore, it is vital that you consult the current SCC Course Catalog to ensure that your academic plan is feasible.

These must be completed before beginning Basic Medical Coding (HIM1222C). Basic Medical Coding begins in the Fall Term only. Each year, Intermediate Coding (HIM2253C) and Physician Office Billing and Reimbursement (HIM2261C) are only offered in the Spring Term. Advanced Medical Records Coding (HIM2283C) and Medical Coding and Billing Internship (HIM2800) are only offered in the Summer Term. During transition from the Medical Record Coder ATD to the Medical Information Coder College Credit Certificate, HIM 1442 can be substituted for HSC 1149 for the 2008-2009 academic year.

** BSC1010c General Biology has a pre-/corequisite of MAT1033 Intermediate Algebra and ENC1101 English I.
