Safety and Security

Office of Safety and Security reports to Vice President of Administrative Services. It has a staff of 23 security officers and supervisors who provide security services to the SCC community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Authority

All SCC campus Security Officers are licensed under Florida Statutes, Chapter 493.

Organization

The Office of Safety and Security provides patrol services and special services to all SCC Campuses. Patrol operations encompass the three operating shifts which deliver the day-to-day security service to the SCC community 24 hours a day. These services are provided by officers who patrol the campus on golf carts, motor vehicles and on foot. Special services encompass investigation and crime prevention. The investigation functions are preliminary and follow-up. We also coordinate and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

The crime prevention officer helps educate community members on preventing and avoiding crime. At the beginning of each school year, we will distribute crime prevention information to incoming students, and during the year hold a crime prevention exhibit with officers on hand to give out materials and answer questions.
