Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) Exam

The DANTES Exam is a nationally recognized credit-by-examination program. With a DANTES exam, students can:

  • Prove their competency in various college-level course materials; and
  • Earn college credit without taking a course (if you pass the exam).

DANTES exams were originally designed for military veterans and reservists, but civilians and adult students can take them now as well. Students can take DANTES exams for:

  • Business;
  • Physical science;
  • Humanities;
  • Social science; and
  • Applied technology.

Where can I take a DANTES exam?

SCC is a national DANTES test center. You can take the exam at the Assessment and Testing Center.

If I've taken a DANTES exam, how do I get my test scores to SCC?

You are responsible for ensuring that SCC has your DANTES records.

  • If you are a military veteran, contact the Veteran's Administration (VA).
  • Contact the facility at which you took the test(s); they may be able to help you.
  • Speak with the Admissions Department; they may be able to tell you who to contact to get your DANTES records.
  • Contact the Assessment and Testing Center.

Is there a fee for taking the CLEP/DANTES exam?

  • The Fee for the CLEP/DANTES: $70
  • The SCC Registration Fee: $15
